Well, even though I tried to resist owning an iPod until they incorporated a colour screen :grumble:, I recently received a 4G 20GB model for my birthday.

Now I'd like to protect it with a case of some sort.

Please tell me what you use to protect your iPod or what cases you have come across that you think are worth investigating further.

Thanks. :)

I have a clear plastic one that slides over the iPod, christened the "pod-dom". I never use it, it's too awkward and bulky.

The Apple belt clip one (that comes with the 40GB model) I use all the time.

I have an iSkin evo2 (http://www.iskin.com/evo2.html) for my 4G. It is made of a rubber-like matierial, has a removable clip and a nice screen protector. My only gripe is that I have to take it off to put the iPod in the dock. It does have a flap at the bottom so that it is easy to plug the cable directly into the iPod though.

Have any of you seen or used the booq Nappa case? It looks good, but is quite expensive. I can't see a front panel image of it though. I'd like to know if the screen is protected by a clear plastic protector or if they rely on the leather/felt flap that goes over the front. Also, what is nappa - is it North American Potbellied Pig Leather or something?

I have one around here somewhere.......

I can't remember it exactly but I did not fit my requirements. Are you sure they are still available? I just looked on their site and could not find it.

Nappa is in California (I think) and makes nice Merlots and Zinfindals.

I never used a case when I had an iPod. I've tried to use one a number of times but I've never been happy with any of them. I just used the iPod nekkid - scratches build character and what good is a pristine iPod if you can't enjoy using it?

Here is googles cached link (http://216.239.39.104/search?q=cache:735-POdtrbgJ:www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok%3Fno%3D59+booq+nappa&hl=en) but if you try the normal link (http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=59) it says it not a valid product.

I've got a Timbuk2 case that I use a lot, and also have used the Apple case fairly often. I want to get a Gravis G-Pod case, but they're still out of stock at Burton's site (this is the Gravis footwear/backpack division of Burton), and the STM Cocoon case looks really good too, especially for traveling.

Bought one of these last month for my 3G, on the recommendation of a knowledgeable friend working at the Apple Store. Waaaay better than any of the other cases I've tried. Highly recommended.

I have seen those images before, but it still does not tell me how the wheel and screen are protected/accessed?

Also, anybody know what nappa is?

Mine was for the 3g and from memory nothing is protecting either. It is the flap that protect them and they have cutouts in the leather.

"Nappa leather:

A soft, full grain leather made from an unsplit sheepskin, lambskin, or kidskin, usually tanned with alum and chromium salts and dyed throughout."

And I can attest to it being soft
