I will be getting a Mac Pro and I'm trying to set up a triple display system.

Question 1
I have decided to get the X1900 XT to run two of the three displays and to get the most out of Motion. Should I get the X1900 via the BTO option or is it better to buy it as an after-market add on.
I ask this because I have see a few posts from some who are getting a Mac Pro with the 7300 GT and adding an after market X1900 and I was wondering why.

Question 2
Can I transplant my old ATI Radeon 7000 PCI graphics card into a Mac Pro to use with the third display?

Thanks!

I did. It was to have my Mac Pro faster. Now, they don't seems to get x1900 supply problems anymore so you could BTO right away

Mac pro is pci-e only.

Thanks for the info dmegatool.

OK, so will it be cheaper to get the x1900 BTO and buy an after-market 7300 (or comparable) pci-e card or cheaper to leave the stock 7300 in the new Mac Pro and get an after-market x1900?

Also, how much did you pay for your x1900?

Thanks again...

The price is the same if you buy the cards from apple or if you BTO.

The x1900 if 400$ and the 7300gt is 150$. It's up to you to see if you can find a better deal. Maybe you could look on ebay. There is probably people in the same situation than me. I have a 7300gt to sell but I'm waiting if my friend want it before to put it on ebay.

If you didn't ordered around the 23rd, maybe I could sell it to you !
