In the classroom where I teach, there is this thing we call a SMART Cart, which controls all of the A/V equipment in the room, and has an onboard computer as well as a place to attach your laptop.

However, it has a standard male VGA cord, which was fine with the Dell, but won't be when the new MacBook Pro arrives.

the adapter I need? It doesn't say whether the VGA end is male or female. It also doesn't say that it works with the MacBook Pro, though I was under the assumption that a DVI input is a DVI input.

Also, it gets mixed reviews. Are there better ones? Cheaper ones?

You can always find "premium" cords and adapters, but I doubt you'll be able to find one for much less than $20. Not one that you'd want to use anyway.

I believe the MacBook Pro comes with a DVI to VGA adapter.

Yup, it does (http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html). :)

Thanks for that. I might have picked one of these up at Target today.

After buying the iPod, I just expect that Mac products don't come with any "extras," things like AC adapters and such. $300 for the iPod, $150 for various accessories.
