So I just picked one up, and it doesn't work. Turns out on this model there's an (undocumented) 1GB limit on the card size it will read. I have a 4GB card.

So what I'm looking for is something that will read a 4GB SD (Sandisk brand) card that's been formatted by a Canon camera.

Anyone out there have something they're using that fits the bill? So far I've come across rumblings of changes in the Sandisk cards that are screwing up readers, and comments that Canon formatted cards are unreadable by some card readers, but nothing definite.

I'd rather not play mail order roulette shopping for one that will work if someone out there has already done the legwork.

I only have 1GB SD cards, but Canon-formatted in my A610, my Crucial card reader works just fine, and the Crucial ones are FAST.

I'm guessing it's a FAT32 issue. Just like Palm handhelds. They needed a FAT32 driver to read Large cards.

I use my printers Flash card reader. I also have a SanDisk USB reader (http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(1145)-SDDR-89-SanDisk_ImageMate_12in1_ReaderWriter.aspx) that works well with Mac and PC. I know it isn't PCMICA, but it will work for you. I'll see if I can find a link. It's the 12-in-1. You don't have to use the stand, it's only connected by a USB to Mini-USB cable.

Edit: Link added!

So I found the answer. The card is SDHC. Only SDHC capable card readers will be able to do anything with it.
