I will try to phrase this post so that it doesn't sound like spam, because it's not. :)
Has anyone ever bought from a GSA (Federal Government) auction? I was poking around on gsaauctions.gov and found this lot (among others) being auctioned off by NASA in Hampton, VA.

There look to be at least a dozen of them, and the current bid is $35.
The auction lists serial numbers, so I looked one up and it came up as:
Serial number: XB9492KEHPO
Name: Power Macintosh G4 (AGP Graphics)
Model: M7825 PowerMac G4 450MHz
Bus speed: 100MHz
The big catch is that they need to be picked on site. If I were just a little closer ... and had a garage to store them ... I'd be seriously tempted! Maybe somebody else who lives in the Tidewater area is as crazy as me.
Turtle, you there?
hmmm....if someone bought them, i would consider purchasing one off of them
When did G4s ever come in a B&W case?

I guess they probably didn't. I just tried a few more of the serial numbers, and some of them do come up G3 B&W. Must be a mixed lot.
I have been looking as well. How can I run the serial numbers to find information about the Apple one's? One I am looking at even has some apple displays...

The very first models.
No.
Mactracker says no too, Dave. First G4 was the Yikes!

Looks grey to me...
I guess it's too late for me to ninja-edit my post then... ;)

I've been using this Dutch site (http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html). There may be others.

Yeah, I could pick them up locally. I'd have to have more info though before I would be willing to go in on some of these. G3 wouldn't do it for me at all. I have too many PCs around here I need to get replace with Macs. I don't have a Garage either, though I do have a storage unit. :) I would be willing to help out either way though.
Edit: After going through those computers listed it seems the newest one would be a year 2000 and it's a 500MHz G4, thought the model number in the auction doesn't match the website information.
Pay $35 for a dozen somewhat useless computers that would end up costing you more to recycle. Save your money...I'm begging you.
