Engadget was showing 5 new NEC monitors for "the pros" and they sound pretty sweet... like the 24" model:

(¥186,900 / $1,566) LCD2490WUXi does pack the same H-IPS LCD panel (as the 25.5 model intro'd in January), 12-bit look-up tables, and embedded circuitry found in its bigger brother. Likewise, it brings a 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolution, 800:1 contrast ratio, 400cd/m2 brightness, and 178-dgree viewing angle only with additional jacks this time: 3x DVI-D (HDCP), 1x DVI-I (HDCP), and 1x D-Sub15.

Wonder what the skreet price will be for these bad boys....

ALSO:
I noticed that they have a series called Accusync Touch LCD series (http://preview.tinyurl.com/2f82oy).

Does anyone know how these work with OS X?
There are enough fingerprints on my monitor from all the people who come by my desk that I might as well make it touch sensitive so they can drag shit all over the place.
What the hell.

:grumble:

I don't think it's a pro model, and it certainly isn't brand new, but I just purchased an NEC 20WMGX2, and that is an awesome monitor for pretty much everything. I have already sold several other people on it just by letting them use my machine. :) If these new monitors have the same style panel (I believe they do) then the clarity and picture quality, as well as color accuracy and response time, should be supurb.

I should design a USB dongle that gives your monitor an electrical field to zap anyone who tries to touch it. I'd make a damn fortune.

Before my 20" iMac I had a big fat CRT hooked up to my Powerbook. Anybody who dared touch the thing would get a cardiac arrest inducing WHACK of electricity... cracked me up every time they did it!!

I'd buy that. Who the hell needs to touch the monitor to point things out? What the hell is wrong with people?

Nothing at all. It's natural. Not being able to touch the screen is fairly non-intuitive.

Is that you volunteering to clean the screens in my edit suite, Chucker? Thanks!

Sure, I'll take it. Oh, just so you know: I get paid by the minute. :)

Nice... they finally updated their POS website...

2690 Still looks like the best color monitor, even though the specs are the same as the 2490. I'll take 90+% Adobe RGB and a little bit softer text, vs. 60+% Adobe RGB a slightly sharper text
