My housemate has a Macbook - and her power adapter works just fine with my Macbook Pro. I need a new adapter for travelling - and with the Macbook charger being cheaper, would it be ... "safe" ... to simply purchase it instead?

where do you see this? In Apple store both adapters are 79 USD

I bought an extra 85W MagSafe power adapter to do with the included 60W adapter of a black MacBook 2.0GHz. This was on the recommendation of an Apple Store employee (they did not have individually packaged 60W versions in yet).

The two adapters differ only in size, the 85W being larger. The MagSafe end of the cable is identical. And.. I can say from experience that the 85W charges the MacBook just fine.

£55 and £59 respectively - though I could have sworn there was a much bigger margin at last check ...

Problem solved - cheers!

£55 power adapter (65W) is for ibook/powerbook G4 and £59 adapters are for macbook pro (85 W) / Macbook (60W)
