Hi all,

Like many others, I'm waiting for a MBPro update before replacing the PowerBook. I was going to wait for Leopard and iLife 07 etc. but I've decided to buy in June, assuming a hardware update (got to be likely at WWDC).

Anyway, question is, how much discount do you get with ADC membership. I'm thinking that it costs £330. If I joined, I'd get Leopard for no additional cost when it came out; that's saved, say, £80. If the discount was something like 15% on the more sparkly MBP 15", I'd be pretty much breaking even.

I suppose there is a chance that Steve Jobs'll say that macs bought after June 11th will have free/cheap upgrade to Leopard. That'd skew the numbers a bit..

Anyway, has anyone bought hardware with ADC membership? How much was the discount?

Discounts are calculated by the sales agent and sent in your confirmation email.

Yup, I saw that page. I was wondering how large the discounts typically are... I'm guessing they are not 50%, but hope they tend to be more than 5%.

Thanks for the info though..

I believe they're usually around 20%.

This has me wondering now too. It's only $99 for Student here in the states with a one-time discount on hardware. What's the discount here in the states? I'm interested in learning to develop and code again.

Click the link in list item #1 (I tried direct-linking, but it didn't work)

The best discounts are on the MBP, I think. You can actually get the mid-range MBP (15" with 2GB RAM, upgraded graphics, etc.) for the retail price of the low-end ($1999). Even with the ADC membership included in the price, you save $400. That's $2199 total (incl. ADC registration fee) vs. $2299 w/ edu. pricing.

The 17" ends up being $2339 w/ ADC included and $2599 w/ edu.

Most other machines don't end up being cheaper than education prices, once you factor in the membership fees. (I'm not including Mac Pro configurations here, though. Some of them may end up being cheaper as well.)

Wow, that is a great savings. Thanks for the link. I thought the student discount and my Federal discount were good. I'll have to plan this out now.
