View Full Version : PCI WiFi card for Windows

So, while I try and hardwire most of the time, it's not always practical. Thus, I need to put a wireless PCI card in my newly constructed baby.

I ordered a Linksys WMP54GS and it sucks.

1) It uses it's own configuration utility, completley bypassing the wireless config built into Windows. The configuation utility itself is needlessly complicated and pretty unusable.
2) My base station (802.11n AirPort Extreme) is literally 40 feet away through wooden walls (no metal) and it can't consistently pick it up.

So, I need a new one. I would like to get one that is 802.11n, because, well, I can. It needs to be backwards compatible with g, and even b (ew... 802.11b) because I never know where I'll end up gaming.

Suggestions? I'd like to stay away from Linksys. Cheap for a reason.

(Also, so I can stop asking PC hardware questions at a place where not everyone is knowledgable, can someone point me at a good PC hardware forum?)
