Hey I was looking around at different monitors, and was wondering if anybody here has bought this monitor (Dell 2407-HC). I was thinking about buying a monitor right now, or maybe wait, but I was just checking out the latest 24 inch monitors and was wondering what people thought of it. It's supposed to be really good and right now at dell.com there is a $100 savings. It is selling for $569.00! That is such a good deal and it has a 5 out of 5 rating from customer reviews on Dell's website. Should I buy it? or wait till DisplayPort is put on because within the next year monitors are going to add DisplayPort along with graphics cards from ATi (AMD), and nVidia. Those two and intel are going also start putting them on their chipsets for integrated graphics. Just wondering...

I paid ~$1500 for a 2405FPW and have been very happy with it. The 2407-HC is the same thing but two revisions/improvements later, no? At sub $600 price, everyone with a desktop should get one if they don't have it already...

DisplayPort will eventually replace DVI and others, but it doesn't do anything for you right now.

for $599 you can get this Samsung with a higher contrast ratio and faster response time.

Dell Contrast Ratio: 1000:1
Samsung Contrast: 3000:1

Dell Response time: 6ms
Samsung response time: 5ms

What makes you trust Samsung's cited numbers any more than Dell's?

Except I read that Samsung doesn't use one of their better panels. And look at the reviews for it, they are not that great... Such a hard choice to wait or buy.
