I'm looking for a dock/speakers system for my dad's birthday. I think really it just has to be something that gives good sound and gets pretty loud. Any extras like an alarm clock or anything like that is just gravy, but I just want something that he can throw his iPod on to charge when he gets home from work, and listen to music if he wants.

I know there are a lot of things like, but I have experience with none of them, so I thought I'd ask if any of you recommend anything, or at least things to steer clear of.

The Luna is supposed to be OMFGamazing.

I have a JBL OnStage II, and I'm suprised by how loud it is. I'm not really an audiophile, but I can tell it sounds better than my MacBook. :p

I got my daughter a Logitech AudioStation™ Express (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/ipod_mp3_speakers/devices/197&cl=us,en) and it seems like it would fit your bill pretty well.

I tried a couple of them but they all felt cheap. I wound up getting the universal dock and a Model One.

I was wondering the same thing, but for different reasons - which ones sound sweet? I'm a former recording engineer, so I loves the sweet sounds...

I have the JBL OnStage II and am very impressed with what it can put out.

It's very loud for it's size and I take it all over the house. It comes out at my school house all the time.
