View Full Version : Clear covers for PowerBook palmrests?

Since my current PowerBook is partially work funded, I will probably be keeping it for some time. Like, I'm talking about actually maintaining ownership of it right up to, and past (*gulp*), the next revision. Yes. For real.

Now of course this is completely uncharted territory for me. I've never really had to worry about long-term care of my Macs before. That isn't to say that I haven't always babied them, but I'm looking for a little extra protection. You know, your girlfriend is on the pill, but you pull one on anyway. A little extra protection.

I was thinking that some clear covers for the palmrests would be a good idea. I saw them mentioned in a thread here recently, but can't remember ever actually seeing any for sale. Something like the cover that comes on an LCD, maybe a little bit of adhesive to tack it on there. It would stop sweat from pitting the aluminum (very low % of people have this problem, I know) and from shirt buttons, etc, scratching it up.

Has anyone seen these? Know where I can find one? For some reason my Google prowess has left me this afternoon and I can't manage to find anything.

These (http://www.pawasapo.co.jp/products/rr.php?category=pb) are what you want, you'll probably have to contact Mac Imports (http://macimports.com/home.html) as they don't have these listed but claim they can get stuff from Power support.

Thanks, man. My mom always said, it's great when the milkman visits!

Welcome to AppleNova, BTW. Cheers.

Klear Advantage.

http://www.klearadvantage.com/

It's a really shoddy, cheap-looking website, and I swear I think I've read bad things about this product.

I didn't know there were clear ones. I just thought murbot was imagining things. http://forums.applenova.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I personally prefer the ones at Power Support better but these would probably be easier to get.

I emailed the guys, hopefully those aren't *too* expensive. They look pretty cool.

The clear ones are kind of what I was thinking originally, thanks Brad. Holy crap what a brutal site though.

I'll see what pans out from the Japanese dudes.

I tried those once. What pissed me off the most was that they had the product name all over them, turning my TiBook into advertising for them, and I was paying for the privilege.

The other thing that pissed me off, was that it was basically one sheet of full-sheet transparent Avery Label stock, printed with their name, and they charged more for one sheet than it would cost for a whole package of Averys.

Why not just get an external keyboard and not only save the palm-rests on the powerbook, but save your wrists too.

Ice Key (http://www.macally.com/spec/usb/input_device/icekey.html) rules. I'd tell you to buy from newegg, cause you can't beat their prices, but well, you're Canadian. Sorry ;)
