So what is everyone doing for halloween? first year in college means it's cool to dress up again ;)

I'm ordering my gear to be jack bauer right now... :)

Other (good) ideas I've heard:

V (it's a pretty badass costume, and my friend memorized the speech)
Soulja Boy
a Spartan

I know this is geeky as can be, but a year or so ago I designed a really cool Boba Fett-inspired costume. Like someone from that same era/army, just different colored armor and weapons (gold, copper, crimson red, khaki, etc.), and he was an archer/crossbow user (lasers, of course). My "backstory" was that he was slightly trained in the Jedi arts, so, of course, he's got a bad-ass light saber (stolen off a Jedi he dicked-over and killed?) dangling from his belt (orange-bladed, of course).

:D

But still the Fett helmet, body armor, shoulder cape, gauntlets, etc. It let me be that character (or someone like him, with that same cool vibe), but without having to get all nutty and exact with the real Boba Fett costuming (which people get really exacting and over-the-top on). I figure between Home Depot and an army surplus store (and a plastic unpainted replica helmet), I could do something pretty bitchin'.

I drew it all out, spec'd some of the components to build the various doodads (chest pieces, little hoses and wires, etc.), etc. and then got distracted by life.

:(

Someday...

Then again, I could just go the Drew route and break out the HP and Xerox cardboard boxes.

:p

I did the same thing with a Batman costume...a cool 40's era type deal, with vaguely military touches Leather and canvas utility belt, thigh holster for batarangs, split cape for true "batwings" effect, no yellow oval, textured grey cloth suit, very pointed, scary cowl and ungodly ears, reflective lenses, etc.

I was going to wear a blue set of Pajamas, a blue balaclava and stick half ping-pong balls to every joint. Then tell people that they're going to CGI in an awesome costume in Post.....

I want to go as a D.E.A. agent, but need to find a costume. So far the only choice is to dress like a whore. I don't think I'm down with that. :)

You could probably pull it off with just sunglasses, and the right hat and T-shirt:

I'm thinking of going the zombie route this year. I wanted to do something with the 'Scream' mask from Scary Movie

but I'm going to be playing that night and might need to be able to see what's going on around me. :)

you could go as freddy, Mikey, Jason, or leatherface, for your fill of horror films. For your fill of corp executives steve jobs, or balmer and the year before last I went as donald trump, I have blonde hair, so I blew it out and made it kinda stand up, and wore a suit. But last year my friend went as a disgruntled elf, and I went as Shirley Schmidt from Boston Legal, or if you watch the show Shirley Schmidt-ho. This year i was thinking of going as a playboy bunny, or a martini girl :) i have a week to decide ;)

It would be fun - and easy - to go as Britney Spears. So many things you could do, even as a guy out for laughs, to nail that costume!

:D

Starbucks cup and car keys in one hand, bag of Cheetos in the other, two toddler dolls hanging on your back (or dragged behind you on a leash), big pie-plate sunglasses, a really bad, crooked wig, bare midriff with tummy pooching out, some sort of play on the whole "ah ain't got no panties on" angle, etc.

I'm betting a lot of people will do something like this, she's been in the news so much lately and is such an easy target with so many angles to work with for a costume. She's a walking trainwreck and makes it easy...

I will post a picture eventually, but let's just say that before this weekend, I knew alcimedes only online... but now we've met in person with plenty of eat, drink and be merry, and Halloween costumed together, and even Radiated together.

He made a hell of a DEA agent... and it was all about the Cheezy 70's Reno 911 Cop Mustache.

Unbelievably, we're playing a gig Halloween night at a little acoustic pub place...fell into our lap, not even seeking it. Our singer, for some unknown reason (but I'm not complaining), has decided she's going as Jessica Rabbit ( ) and she's buying the three of us rabbit ears to wear. Which is fine because I really wasn't wanting to try and put together a costume on such short notice. But I can put on some silly bunny ears for a set or two to help with the vibe.

Jessica and the Rabbits?

Man, her butt is going to look so good...I got a verbal description of the dress/wig at rehearsal earlier this evening. Needless to say, I can't wait for Wednesday night!

She's not bad, she's just drawn that way. :o

:p

She'll fill out the sequin dress just fine. Should be a fun night. This place is a lot of fun (played there last week), and it should be a feast for the eyes Wednesday, all the costumed, drunken revelers. Debuting some new tunes, reworked some older ones, jettisoned a few duds, bringing along some extra guitars (12-string and an alternate-tuned one for a couple of CSN&Y goodies), etc.

Ha, I'm not sure. I guess we should, huh? I'll just enjoy myself, people-watching. All the costumes that are sure to be on display (and they seem to get more "out there" and risque with each passing year, in some quarters).

It's true that Halloween is the one time people (okay, women) can dress in the most outrageous, "vinyl thong/electrical-tape-on-the-nipples, female-vampire-with-a-cock-worship-fetish" type of get-up and no one looks at it sideways, or thinks less of them.

:)

"Oh hey there, Melissa...cool outfit. Have you tried the dip? Kim made it from a recipe she found online. Jennifer and Matt are here somewhere. Hey, that staff meeting today was brutal, wasn't it? Haha! Well, make yourself at home..."

:D

All Vixens Eve, I call it. It's kinda like going to an adult, "gentlemen's establishment", but minus the cover, drink minimums, etc.

:)

All I have right now is a pint of fake blood from Wal-Mart... I've played a few pranks with some friends and it's *very* realistic.

I'll probably combine that with tattered clothes and be an assault victim... or maybe add some white powder for that undead look.

Some stores carry those really neat (and realistic) wound and scar makeup kits. Usually not my thing - the gore and all - but for those people into that (or being zombies or zombie victims), you can get some really nice, realistic results. You gross everyone out around you, but I guess that's part of the fun.

:)

I lean toward the more whimsical, lighter side...I like funny or clever costumes. Or really good movie/TV character recreations (especially the homemade type). About 12 years ago, I did the Indiana Jones thing. I had lace-up dark brown work boots, khaki pants, white shirt and a brown leather jacket. I borrowed some strap/bag and a toy gun holster and I actually had a bullwhip that I bought in Mexico some 10 years earlier, sitting in the top of my closet. I got it out, coiled it up nice and round and strapped it to my belt with a clip. The only thing I didn't already have was the fedora, but I was able to borrow one (brown with black band), believe it or not...

Neatest costume I ever had, and it didn't cost a dime! And everyone knew who it was (you put on that hat and have that coiled bullwhip hanging off your hip, there's no getting around it).

:D

Lots of compliments and pic-posing.

Damn, now that I think about it...I've got all those things, except, once again, the fedora. Maybe I can scrounge one up again somehow, and I can do that for tomorrow night...put the rabbit ears on top of the fedora. Bunny Jones.

:p

My bloody jawline in the photo was accomplished with something called Fake Blood Gel.

It was solid in the bottle and it worked by heating the bottle in hot water so that the gel melted, "apply as needed", then let the gel re-solidify.

It seemed to be the least messy of the fake blood possibilities.

I left it at alci's house, or I'd be able to give more exact details...

Oh my gracious! We had sooo much fun tonight! I took the girls to the HUGE shindig at our church. It was awesome!!! The girls had such a good time. For their costumes, our older one was a totally decked out Little Bo Peep, complete with bonnet, curls, fancy shepherd's staff, bloomers, petticoat and big poofy dress. The little one was the most adorable little flapper girl you've ever seen! We got stopped all night with people oogling and ogling over her and snapping pictures from every angle. She played the part soo well. The only thing that could have made the evening better would have been for my husband to have been able to be with us and enjoy the fun. Instead he was working away for us. I took the girls by his workplace on the way home, so he at least got to enjoy seeing the girls in their costumes. I think he was pleasantly surprised. :)

FWIW a bunch of my friends dressed up like burritos and got free Chipotle burritos. It was fun standing in line building stuff out of aluminum foil. Probably should have snapped some pics but whatever.

After we were done eating we met up with some other people and toured a haunted house at a large fraternity. It was well done, lots of torture scenes and use of heat and smell. It didn't help though that we spent half the time laughing after someone in our group got chased by a weed-whip. :I'm sure it would have been much scarier when I was 12. ;)

Which reminds me, we had a company-wide poll for scariest, funniest, most unusual, and best overall costume. Yes, indeed. The Spirited Away costume was very good. Creepy, yet you wouldn't really mind getting taken away by it, if you know what I mean.

I loved the scariest, too: Cheney on a hunt. Your bossman was also well done up. And your chain mail looked excellent, although I think it would look even better if it was battleworn. Go kick some ass somewhere. Scotland?
