So I have an opportunity to get a monitor somewhere in the $1,200 to $1,600 range. Long story, but the end result is that this is something I *have* to get, rather than cash.

So, what's the best monitor(s) you can get for that price range? There seem to be lots of panel types out there now, varying degrees of quality and I don't trust myself to actually know which pieces matter and which ones can be ignored.

The usage will be some graphics work, some gaming, some browsing etc. A nice mix of usage, but not professional grade digital work.

So who has picked up a nice LCD lately and what would you recommend?

$1600 will get you practically any monitor you want...save the 30" Apple Cinema.

$1400 Dell 3007WFP
$1300 Samsung 305T

Personally I love the BenQ monitors I have.

But a lot can be said for the quality of Samsung too. I've not tried their monitors, but all our Plasma and LCD tvs are Samsung.

What type of computer do you have, I'd probably go for two 20" monitors rather than like one 24".
