So I've just decided to teach myself HTML and I've failed at the first hurdle:
I've created a 'Hello world' page, and called it index.html as per the instructions in OS X help.
I've gone into System Preferences --> Sharing, and switched on Web Sharing. I get given 2 homepage addresses: The computer's website address: http://*ipaddress/ and my personal website: http://*ipaddress/~shortname/
If I drop my page into /Library/WebServer/Documents the page is served up correctly. However when I drop it into my own /shortname/sites/ folder and then browse to it I get a "403 Forbidden You don't have permission to access /~shortname/ on this server" message.
Any ideas? According to Help I've done everything correctly.....
