There's an article on Slashdot on the history of Graphing Calculator. The following is a link to the Slashdot story because they have already mirrored the text and so you can read the original story

Some history on this subject: some months ago there was some discussion here and on AI on Curvus Pro, a graphing application that has been bought by Apple and apparently will be released soon.

Some people could not understand why the author of Graphing Calculator did not port his application to OS X. (The difficulty with this used to be explained on www.pacifict.com.)

When the OS X version came out, some people wondered why anyone would bother paying for the application, when Apple's Calculator could be made into a graphing calculator. I don't think anyone tried to compare the two but only assumed that since the generic description, "graphing calculator" was the same, that the programs were equivalent.

I'm not in any way associated with Graphing Calculator or pacificT, but have been using the application since it came out, and am just a bit frustrated by the people at AI who don't seem to appreciate this program.

Ooh! it looks like you can download v.1 of Graphing Calculator for free at their site (http://www.pacifict.com/FreeStuff.html) . It's just like the OS 9 version! :)
