It was long rumored that Apple was about to change the Software Update mechanism. Now, Thawte (https://www.thawte.com/home.html), a "Global Verification Authority" has started offering Apple Developer Certificates (https://www.thawte.com/core/process?retail-enrollment.enrollment-type=new-devel2):

Right now, Apple's Software Update utility updates only Apple software, but it's long been rumored Apple might open up the software to other publishers.
Some have speculated that such a system might allow Apple to do for software what the company's done for music: transform a humble utility into a one-stop shop for software, updates and patches.Source: The Cult of Mac Blog (http://blog.wired.com/cultofmac/)
What do you think of this? Will we see this introduced, or at least previewed at WWDC? Will it be good to sell software through such a mechanism?
Will this go the same way as with Certificates you see on Windows?
