I know that the cheapest printers can be an exercise in frustration, but I'm just looking for a cheap, easy inkjet printer (that works above all else!) that I can do some simple printouts on. Not looking for a photo lab or a printing press, just something I can print articles on every so often, or online coupons/movie tickets/etc. Was hoping that someone here has experience with a product that proved exceptional and somewhat inexpensive. :)

Thanks in advance for any advice you provide!

I tend to like HP's. They have nice printer/scanner/copier combos for cheap.

What's your price range?

If I could get away with spending under $100, that would be ideal, as it's not necessarily something I would using very often at this point in my life - mostly for printing the occasional article and coupons/movie tickets, so I probably wouldn't even need an all-in-one, although I helped my grandma set up an HP AIO this afternoon and it was a pretty seamless experience (on Windows, even).

But for the purposes of this, I'll say $50-150, with the possibility of going a bit over if need be.

This (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8782864&type=product&id=1205245969723) is a solid printer.

I know my buddy just got a real nice HP from Apple when he bought his new Macbook that was $130 and it was a printer/scanner/copier and had wifi.

I've had a lot of success with Canons in the last few years. This one is a very good printer for only $99:

Why not a laser? You can pick up a Brother HL-2140 for about fifty bucks. I have one and my parents have its predecessor, the 2040. Great machines.

Now I have a starting point...that looks like a good deal for the price listed. Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks all for the suggestions...now I have more than a few starting points. Not sure why I wouldn't get a laser; I just assumed that inkjet would be the most economical option with the least amount of hassle, but I'm obviously not an expert when it comes to printers. :)

OMG.

Amazon has a Brother laser printer for $40. (http://www.amazon.com/Brother-HL-2140-Personal-Laser-Printer/dp/tech-data/B0010Z1W06/ref=de_a_smtd)

That's a great deal (obviously). And it works with Mac (and Linux). I don't think you can go wrong with that.

EDIT: The deal ended just after I posted that. But keep your eye out for that printer, you can find it on sale pretty easily at Staples and other stores, apparently.

It's big brother with ethernet AND wifi networking http://www.amazon.com/Brother-HL-2170w-Printer-Wireless-Interfaces/dp/B0010Z3LGO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1224576706&sr=1-1 goes on sale often too.

I saw it for $89.99 on amazon but I waiting too long and it went up to $130 or so. A few weeks later I finally caught it at $89.99 again. It's awesome. We have it networked wired since it's next to the router, but I figure wireless would be sweet. I LOVE the always-on (standby/sleep) fucntionality for every computer in the house.

You can have a look at the HP Photosmart C4210 All-in-One printer, it is essentially a plug and play device via the USB port. The ink cartridges were easy to install and even auto-aligned by printing a test page that is then scanned via the scanner portion. The price for this printer has dropped a lot, walmart now has it for only $75 (http://www.dealstudio.com/deallink.php?deal_id=140401&ru=282), I think that's quite a nice choice.
