Does anyone have any experience with the Samsung Syncmaster 24" LCD Monitor (T240)? I've read pretty good things about it, and just might pick one up - they're on sale at Future Shop (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10107395&catid=25616&atab=3&logon=&langid=EN#) for $349.

Wow man, check the dates before you post. EDIT: Moved to new thread.

 I just thought I'd tag it on to an older one seeing as it's a small request. I guess I thought that making new threads was somehow taxing on the system or something like that (whatever that means).

I learned something new about forums today!

I have a T260HD, which is incredibly nice. The regular T240 has better black levels and response time, but the resolution is only 1680x1050, IIRC. Great monitors, however.

There's no set rule or time limit after which you shouldn't bump a thread. It's sort of a case-by-case basis. If you were asking about exactly the same model of monitor, then it might be worth bumping. Or if the last post had been only a month or two ago, it might also be worth bumping. But when it's been that long, most of that old advice no longer applies, so lumping in a new request in with an old thread wouldn't make much sense and might confuse people.

No, the T240 has a resolution of 1920x1200. All 24" monitors do. 20-22" widescreens are the ones with 1680x1050. According to Samsung's site, the only difference between the T240 and T260 are the screen sizes - 24" and 25.5", respectively. Both have the same resolution.

The T240HD and T260HD are different versions that have built-in digital TV tuners, HDMI inputs, and other TV features. They still run at 1920x1200 for use as a computer monitor and will do 1080p as a TV monitor. And like you said, the HD versions have a little less contrast. Might be worth the trade-off if you like the idea of watching TV or connecting up a DVD player or video game system to it.

I think we're going to be getting an LCD TV in the new year, so I'm not worried about any connectivity other than DVI (which it has). This is going to sit on my desk and be for computer use - picture, video, audio and text editing, web surfing, watching the odd movie.

I'm just sick of trying to do all of that on a 15" screen, so it's time I think.
