Note : Apple has yet to release the OpenGL 3.0 to us, but I am hopeful that should show up alongside OpenCL later this year.... and perhaps 3.1 not so long after... but who knows. :)

Are developers till pissed?

It'd be nice if Apple got OpenGL 3.1 into Snow Leopard but they tend to be pretty conservative. We'll see. It's not like the Mac platform has legions of software with old OpenGL code that's been deprecated in 3.1 (as opposed to X86 PC)

I think the general opinion is that 3.1 is a very welcome update after 3.0
Certainly it's clarified things a lot more, but people who rely on NeHe tutorials and the like may well be a bit confused!

I would be grateful for some of the advances in instancing, and perhaps just a simple jab at putting 3.0 out with Snow Leopard. It seems the obvious choice as it will mesh with OpenCL, and also keep the deprecated features from pre 3.0 GL with us. Apple just bumped yet another of my requests for some of the more modern extensions (which are core in 3.1) to the graveyard of 'under investigation', which could mean anything..

I doubt Apple would go all the way to 3.1 at this late stage.. But who knows. CL has only just been finalized (outside of Apple's ivory tower) AFAIK. So perhaps CL1.0 and GL3.1 will be the way Apple go.

I still have to read the specs in full.
