View Full Version : Tiger - Release at MWSF ??
Just read this here: http://www.macshrine.com/news.php?newsid=503
Yesterday we received lots of emails regarding the news byte posted about a possible Tiger launch. We would like to clear up the story. Apple will announce the Tiger launch date at Macworld. Tiger boxes have been pressed and ready and sent to select Apple Stores ready for launch, so there is no delay. Tiger is expected to cost us another $129.99 each, so that's for Spotlight, Core Image and er?
What do we reckon people?? No word on sources and Think Secret or Macrumours havent picked up on this....
No way in hell. Period. 100% false.

It would not surprise me for a Tiger launch date to be ANNOUNCED tomorrow...they've done that plenty in the past, announcing Jaguar and Panther release dates months in advance. Sure, I can imagine that.
But no, I DON'T think "January 11, 2005" is THE Tiger RELEASE date...
:err:
Probably more like April-June sometime...
I don't even think it's anywhere near completion right now, right? Still being tested and so forth, I'd guess. I don't get the impression Tiger is "all set to go!". Please.

Nope, definitely not ready for release -- as ADC members only just got the second Developer Preview (8A323) mailed out in mid-December. Most ADC members probably didn't even get them until last week.
Also consider that the competition for new Dashboard widgets is too close to the expo for them to actually be included in a final product.
If it's released tomorrow, I'll fellate myself and post the video.

For your sake (and mine) I hope they don't release it tomorrow.
Why do people even post shit like this? Common. It's not hard to do a little basic research and realize it's nowhere close to being ready. Not unless Apple has been hiding highly polished builds from ADC members which I really, really doubt.

What kind of backwater jabroni site is this? It's obviously complete rubbish.
Sooo, no firm release date post-keynote. Still the "first half of 2005". I find that curious. I think it will be kicked even further back since Steve had that lock during the Spotlight demo. ;)

At that price I hope the dollar takes another dive :err: It's quite a price for an update.
Oh. And hi! I'm new here :) Bought an iBook three months ago, and I really like it, so it will be interesting to see if it can stand the test of time...
That's the normal update price, always has been for each 10.x release.
Aaaaaaand, it's cheaper than a Windows update. ;) Especially when you consider that OS X is equivalent to XP Pro, not XP Home.
$199 gets you a five-pack license for use on every machine in your house.
Congrats on the iBook, and welcome to the boards. :)
I know a 10.x update is much better than a win SP. But it still strikes me as a high price.
But then, thats probably why OS X is better than windows, despite having a smaller userbase.
Can I use those OS 10,3 coupons I got with the iBook to get a discount? If not, what do they work with. It's those bright green / white things I'm talking about.

Nope - those coupons don't really do anything AFAIK.
Well, then I'm gonna have to cough up then.
Guess it will be approx 900 danish crowns.
