I'm applying for a grant for a digital voice recorder, and I need some suggestions; preferably about ones you've used, though any advice would be nice. I'm probably looking for something in the $250-400 range. I'd be using it for recording interviews, lectures, etc.

Thanks!

I keep this Olympus LS-10 on me at all times. The recording quality is excellent, it's tiny, and the battery life is around 12-14 hours of recording time. I put a 16GB SDHC card in it and I can get 8 hours of uncompressed audio at 24bit/96k. Pretty sweet.

Prices for it hover around $200.

Regarding my thread that Bryson linked to, I still haven't got a portable recorder. Can't decide. ;)

For what it's worth, the Olympus LS-10 that sunrain brought up has been replaced (or supplemented?) by the LS-11. Seems very similar except for more built-in memory (8 GB instead of 2 GB).

Sony also has a new portable recorder: the PCM-M10. Whether this lives up to the reputation of the PCM-D50 is still unknown, I think. It's significantly cheaper and significantly smaller.
