View Full Version : I need a free XML Editor. Recommendations?
So I need to work with XML (eech!) a bit. I was mainly curious to see if it made more sense to use XML Editor of some kind over doing it in TextEdit, but the first editor I downloaded was totally sucky (a Windows port that opened to fill my whole 23" screen... :err:) and others doesn't seem quite impressive to me.
So... what XML editor do you use, or not at all?
Meh. I use TextMate. It's not an XML editor per se, doesn't display a tree, etc., but it has an XML bundle, so that's good enough for me.
(edit) And the plug-in XMLMate (http://ditchnet.org/xmlmate/) adds some features like validation.
You could also try Smultron (http://sourceforge.net/projects/smultron/) (again, not an XML editor specifically), but it is free.
I unfortunately have been working with a lot of XML lately and I just use TextMate, too. I haven't tried the XMLMate plugin... might play with that this weekend.

 :)
As long as it's not SOAP or RDF. ;)

FWIW, I haven't tried it — I just stumbled upon it when trying to find "real" XML editors.

It's using a specification that I have a printed copy of on my desk that's ~1.5" thick of 8.5"x11" dead tree pulp (just shy of 600 pages). :( :( :(
