Film Scratch Overlay in iMovie?

For a project I'm going to start working on in the next few weeks, I need to create a LOST-style orientation film but all I have at my disposal is iMovie '09. I am wondering if it's possible to somehow add in a scratch film overlay (or any overlay for that matter) using iMovie? I vaguely remember it as a possibility in iMovie HD, but that's sense been removed from my system. If it's not possible in iMovie, are there other options without buying another editing application?

My copy of iMovie'09 has "Scratched Film" and "Aged Film". :confused:
It's in Clips->VideoEffects when you click on a clip.

Am I missing something here with your question?

Yeah, I thought there were some built-in aging/degradation effects included in iMovie '09 (which was a nice step up from iMovie '08, in terms of getting some of the familiar effects, transitions and "looks" back).

I think '09 is awesome. I was amazed at what I could do with it compared to some of the versions immediately prior to it, after Apple dumbed it down. The effects are some of the easiest to tweak with I've experienced to date. And they seem less cheesy.

It still crashed and did weird shit to some of my clips from time to time. But I'm used to that as every version has done that so it wasn't a huge surprise. Nor did I panic too much as a relaunch would most often clear the problems away. It seems to bork it's cache and then crap it's pants every now and then. But hasn't irreversibly chewed anything up on me...... yet.......

I had no idea that was even possible and all of my Google searches kept pointing to older versions. Wow. I feel like an idiot but I've very excited. I love iMovie 09 as well and this will just open it up a whole lot more. Thanks!
