View Full Version : Question about eBay auction: Is this legit?
On eBay right now, there are a ton of auctions for 250 GB XBox 360 hard drives, most of which have buy it now prices around $100 and ship from China, Taiwan or Hong Kong. I'm a bit dubious of the auctions, but one of the sellers in particular has a ton of good feedback about other listings for this exact item. There are a few negatives on their account, but they're all from people that didn't realize that return shipping to China will be expensive.
So, fellow gaming eBayers, would you buy this drive?

Looking at the photos and the feedback, yes. Seems like a good deal.

You think they're knockoffs that Chu Lin's cousin Eddie is making at his factory? Happens all the time in cartoon movies!

$100 for a 250 GB drive that works with XBox? Whats the normal price and what makes it so different from a normal HD I wonder. Sounds like profit for MSFT...
The 360 famously has expensive propietary hard drives. All things considered, $100 for 250Gb is a pretty sweet deal.

What? C'mon, everyone knows only Macs have overpriced proprietary hardware, right?
*cough*
FWIW, I read somewhere that the 360 Elite is going to bump to 250 gb and that drive will start selling. So this is either legit and it's already available over there, or it's someone trying to make some cash on the rumors.

 Are you kidding, you can get a 3.5" 1TB drive, or 500GB 2.5" drive for $100 these days.
Hey now, I know it's absurdly priced (for normal 2.5" HDDs). My PS3 upgrade to 320GB was ~$70.
Hey now. Clearly it's the Secret Sauce that makes 'em expensive. ;)

The official 120GB drive retails for $179. No, I'm not kidding.

are we talking about a secret sauce like the type that In-N-Out uses?

That's stupid. I thought Apple hard drive upgrade prices were steep. Just another reason to never get a console.
