I know there are some people around these parts who like to write so this is for you all. Nerd king Wil Wheaton is having a fan fiction contest where the winner gets some books, gets paid for their story, and gets published. What's the topic? Well, you have to write a 400 to 2,000 word story about the following picture:

There's a few other instructions and rules that you can find on the actual site (http://whatever.scalzi.com/2010/05/30/fanfic-contest/). It would be cool if an ANer could win. If you decide to enter, and are up to it, post your stories here. Could be interesting to see what people come up with.

I guess they don't want want to read story, after story of that damn cat-unicorn getting into some sort of illicit shenanigans with the clown-swetter.

Any of you who are WarCraft/StarCraft/Diablo fans can enter to win (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/07/05/blizzard-global-writing-contest-now-open-for-submissions/) a pretty cool prize package (including a Frostmourne!).

You and, y'know, the rest of the Internet.

I'm going to sit this one out, but I like the idea and wish other, less insanely popular game developers would give it a shot. I could write a mean PoPoLoCrois fanfic.
