I have just enabled user whitelisting on our Minecraft server. This means that if you're new and wish to join, you must post your Minecraft username in this thread so I can add you to the whitelist. :)

It's going to be months and months before I ever get to join up, but my username is Captain_Drew - please whitelist me!
How about adding me to the whitelist. turtle is likely the name I'd use since I wouldn't be competing with others and be forced to use the numbers.
You realise your username is Minecraft-wide, not just on the Applenova server? So it's likely there is a "Turtle" registered already.

Yep. you have to pay. It's a one-time cost, though. Not recurring like other MMO-games.

So the Minecraft bug finally bit me. Watched some of the videos on Youtube of the Starship Enterprise build, and the 16-bit "CPU". Amazing stuff! Now seeing these screenshots of the world you have built put me over the edge.

That makes sense to me. I just like Minecraft and I've been going through your forum, and it looked interesting.
I think that if you guy's eventually decide to let me in, I will be able to help with building your city. Also who is Nova Bazaar?
Sorry, AdventuristDru, but I have to agree with what these guys said. The Minecraft server is really a community project. If you were an established member here, I'd probably let you in without hesitation. As a brand new member whom we don't know anything about, though, we have to assume that you could be a destructive griefer as much as you could be the next Frank Lloyd Wright. :)
That said, you're welcome to look around the server as a guest! I recently (as in today) established a wrapper that allows un-whitelisted guests to connect and explore but not build. To connect, simply open Minecraft, choose "Multiplayer", and enter "applenova.com" as the address.

Brad, I could dig earth and wood but not collect anything, you may want make sure guests can't do any damage.

Hmm... when I was testing earlier this afternoon as guest, I could dig/break stuff, but a few seconds later it would be always restored to its original state. Was this not the case for you?

She should've already been able to connect as a guest. I've given her regular membership status now, though. As soon as I can manage to connect (damn minecraft.net overloaded again!) I'll reload the config so it takes effect.
OK, so I'm werejack on Minecraft. Probably not going to be on quite yet, still figuring things out in single player. I keep on trying to find coal, like that video said to, but the only caves I can find have zombies instead of coal. Mean zombies :(
If you join the server (once whitelisted) you'll be able to use a safe house in Bridgeport to get started. I'd add you to the whitelist but don't know how just yet.

You all are all crazy. I mean, skyways? Holy what the fuck. (But convenient!)
You can thank SpecMode for the skyways. :) He constructed the first one from Mob Hill (his first home) across the waterway to Bridgeport (where the stone exit ramp descends). Since then, the skyways have sprawled all over the map, being extended not only by SpecMode but also 709, turtle, bobsky, myself, and anyone else who ventures out to distant lands.

Have you registered at minecraft.net? Registering a name is free even if the game costs cash. Better check that the name you want is available and grab it. I'll whitelist you as soon as you do.

I don't know what his username is on MC yet, but SonicZeHedgehog (AN's newest member) is one of my friends who got MC. He'll be joining us before too long.
I think we should have everyone new read this thread (http://forums.applenova.com/showthread.php?t=35792) first and foremost. Maybe even link to it at the top of this thread. Today, Gargoyle was the perfect example of what to do as he first took a tour with Brad and then asked about possible places to set up his first build. We found a great spot close to BP yet with some privacy to boot. It was painless and good, and I look forward to having him on with us. :)

I've been on MC for a few months now. Been on a private server with mobs off... (not much fun imo). Turtle made this sound like it's classy, spectacular, and the place to be.
I think I was whitelisted as Boxofjason, but if it is case-sensitive I am boxofjason.

Sorry, fireflygirl1, but this Minecraft server is for AppleNova community members only. We don't add anyone to the whitelist who doesn't have a presence here on the forums unless someone else here can vouch for him/her. That's how we ensure the quality of the world and stave off griefers and trolls.

A bit of a personal introduction and background from her, then? :) I don't entirely mind opening up the server to close friends or family on occasion, but the community as a whole would really benefit from knowing something more about who we're allowing into our private circle.
Here is the important question. Is she a fan of Firefly, which features Nathan Fillon being super dreamy, or is she a fan of lampyridae, which are insects and much grosser up close? This is critical information.

I am very happy that Capella has joined us on our server! On Minecraft she's catpella, note the t. (If you type /tp cap you'll probably get sent over to some space pirate or something.)
To make things easy for her to know who's who I'm bumping this list. I also added some other people who've joined us recently in Nova-land.
She planted a tree for the park I am going to maybe eventually get around to making in Bridgeport. :D I commemorated the historic moment with a special sign. ;)

If you can personally vouch for him and give him a tour/lay of the land/basic rules for the community, bring him on in! An introductory post would be nice, as always, and I'll need his login name to add to the whitelist.

We should reserve the option to explore for a bit, and if no good spot is found, make a new world until we find something favorable.
I would like our "base" to be near spawn ala BP, that's really the only thing on my wish list.
I briefly considered proposing a desert base that we would eventually terraform with a grass covering, but that's a lot of work. I just hate getting rained on. :p
We should start a thread in the next week or so to discuss the new world and maybe plan some things out in advance.
Adding grass isn't that hard.....we could do that for sure. No rain isn't a bad thing.
Desert biome also means no native animals, but of course we'll have farms for them.
I also liked that the village we commandeered in our first 1.8 world was dry.

I quite like the tremendous MIX of biomes in the current version of our world. Ocean, desert, plains, arid, forest.... pretty terrific.
When will we be doing this new world thing? By that I mean when is v.1 expected to drop?
