Ok, so I have a co-worker who says he's running an MC server on an HP G7 laptop with a C2D 2.4GHz and 3.5 GB of RAM. He claims to have 15+ users simultaneously playing with no issues.
The problem here is we run a Xeon 3.3GHz (X5260) (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=33907) with 4GB of RAM and a system that only runs MC with a stripped down version of Cent OS.
I don't know how much RAM we have configured for the MC game to use, but I do know we run on a RAM Disk so that has to count for something.
Bottom line is he says his limitation is Cox Cable's upload speed from his house. I have more and solid via FiOS. Why don't we have that many at once?
So, I'd like us to coordinate and try to crush the server. Let's see what this thing can actually do. I know it's a holiday weekend for those of us in the States (and else somewhere else I think) but how about we all work to get on some night? I'm good for most nights after about 8PM EDT. We can have Brad lift the server limit and just see what happens. What do you guys think?
