Exactly what it sounds like.

We pick one human fox and release them.

1 minute later (or so) the posse is released to chase them.

No warping.

No cheats.

What is at stake? What do we win?

drewprops
2011-08-11, 01:15
Good question. Also, should this happen on an island in order to provide a contained area? Or within sight of a skybridge network? Maybe a race to a specified point? At night?

Naw. No rules about where you can go, but no portals or warping.

I say we time it, and have players place bets on how long anyone survives.

Is it possible to hide the username tags on top of everyone's head? Seems like those would make them really easy to find.

drewprops
2011-08-11, 07:20
Yeah, I was thinking about that. Maybe everyone is armed, even the quarry? So that the fox can fight back.

Maybe the length of the head start is the trick, because if somebody goes bust-ass running in a straight line and never stops it would be hard to catch them.

uh, map expansion, anyone?

I actually considered building a sort of Thunderdome type thingy out on the islands off of FM, but then figured since we have an arena anyways it wasn't worth the time and effort.

Something that I've been keeping in the back of my mind is to have a multi-player death match in the arena, but create a temporary landscape inside with grass, hills, trees, a few well placed lava pools, etc. Go in with a wooden sword and a quiver of arrows and that's it. No armor, no goodies to be found inside, just plain old-fashioned hide-and-run-for-your-life. :)

That's why I suggested a manhunt island, to prevent a giant map-expanding server-crippling chase.

Dang. 709 beat me. I like that idea too, but I really like the idea of a larger playing field.

Dang. 709 beat me. I like that idea too, but I really like the idea of a larger playing field.Yeah, I like the idea of a larger area too. Something walled off around the edges with a single entry platform in the center. Maybe pie-slice partitioned off so everyone would have to run a bit before seeing where everyone else was. Kind of Hunger Games-ish.

Or piston-shooters that launch the players from underground. :D

This IS THUNDERDOME.

This sounds hilariously fun, lol

Here's an idea: If we agree to a time to hold this manhunt event, I could create a separate world for it. Each player could start off with an inventory full of supplies and go for it.

drewprops
2011-08-11, 16:35
ooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! YES YES YES YES YES!!!

Brad
2011-08-11, 16:41
But the world would have to be familiar so people could navigate somewhat reasonably. How about the current world's seed but with a virgin landscape? :)

RowdyScot

I like it! Let's make sure everyone can be involved, though.

Being in a relationship is no excuse for missing the manhunt. ;)

I love the idea....however tonight is my 10th wedding anniversary and I'm on here writing to you guys.. something is just wrong with this. Night guys. :D

Brad

Thursday nights suck anyway. How about Friday or Saturday night?

Kraetos
2011-08-11, 20:44
I'm down either night... I get off work at 9 tomorrow and 10 on Saturday so count me in for sure.

So what are the rules on this? We draw lots and whoever draws the short straw gets hunted? Or should we free for all it?

709
2011-08-11, 20:48
Tomorrow night is a bust, Sat might work but I have a feeling this show is going to go late... Sun I'd be free and clear, but I know that doesn't work for most people 'cause of the following workday. Whatever though. If you make it Sat late (~11E) I could possibly make it.

Or, let's shoot for next weekend. Maybe with a week's notice we could get a good full group together. :)

drewprops
2011-08-11, 21:12
Friday is a maybe, Saturday is a party. We can do this on more than one occasion. If brad and turtle could be invisible they could follow the quarry and zip back and forth watching the chasers be hot or cold.

My work schedule is full of stupid this weekend, so I'll likely be pulling all-nighters. I'll check in tomorrow to see when we're gunning for it, and I'll be there if I'm back from work in time. :)

Brad
2011-08-12, 18:06
Saturday night it is. :) Shoot for 11, but we'll probably hit at midnight.

If we don't get a good crowd, let's try next weekend like 709 said.

So are we all locked out now? Too many wands and compasses? It turned into a game of killing each other. I lost many, many, many, many, many, many times.

drewprops
2011-08-14, 02:08
LOL!!

We warped.
We super compassed.
We mega-wanded.
We fragged anybody who got near us.
We ripped Skyranch asunder.
BP lays in ruins.
The treasury's contents were converted to TNT and set off.
Hundreds of hours of effort were rent in but a few.
Ghasts howled around the upper world.
I accidentally found the place between middle earth and hell.

It was a jolly good time!!

Aww. Sorry I missed out on the festivities guys. Fucking paychecks. :grumble:

Looks like an awesome time from the map though... the destruction of the tree-can gives me an idea for something interesting, actually.

Brad was Sand Happy today. He would attack you with a giant deposit of sand... you had to be crafty to attack him. Making fun of Zelda was a good place to begin....

Yeah and it seems I went a little too wild with TNT at the ranch this time. Server CPU stayed at 100% for the MC core for a good 10 mites or so. :p I'm back on now though.

Wait, does this mean someone else found the Triforce and made their wish?
