I don't see a thread about this topic, and yet I suspect that most all of you lappy-wielding nerds insert something between your pasty peach/brown/whatev skin and your sizzling hot computer. I have a plastic pad that my Dad bought for me while I was recovering from surgery and it has a fan in it, but that does bupkis to reduce the heat of the laptop.
I've found one really remarkable looking setup called the Cooler Master (http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Notepal-Notebook-R9-NBC-8PBK-GP/dp/B002NU5V4A/ref=pd_luc_bxgy_02_02_t_lh) which can run up to 3 user-placed fans under their laptop. This is a great solution for people working at a desk, but it's not designed for true laptop use.
The other solution I've found is by good old reliable Targus, called the Lap Chill Mat (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003WQ4O56/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER), which seems pretty spiffy.
So, what do you actually use, and what do you THINK would be good (besides a large slab of dry ice).
I expect no less than 3 paragraphs from you Scates, please don't disappoint me... I enjoy your opinion :)
