Okay folks,

My 70+ folks have NEVER used a digital camera and want me to help them get set up with one. Here is what they want:

1. Point and shoot capability
2. HD Video capability
3. EASY TO USE
4. EASY TO USE

I will be setting them up with a MacBook Pro with iPhoto and iMovie (I will show them how to use those apps). $200-$500 is the price range. Digital stabilization is probably also a good idea folk old folks. They want to be able to take pictures of the grandkids, take short movies, download both to computer, etc...

What do you think?

Thx in advance

Add to it an Eye-Fi (http://www.amazon.com/Eye-Fi-Connect-Wireless-Memory-EYE-FI-4CN/dp/B003DV4234/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1332198500&sr=8-2) and they never have to pull the camera card out of the camera either!

I agree the Canon PowerShot S100 (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/C1%2B-GNyxasS.pdf) would be a good choice, if you're really willing to spend $400 on this. It's a capable little camera, but those capabilities don't really get in the way of completely automated use, and it produces good results in fully automatic mode.

I know of no truly easy to use digital camera, but Canons have a slightly more sensible user interface than most cameras, and perform well in all other regards too. The S100 also has an integrated GPS (for geotagging your photos) and widespread software support.

For less than $400, I'd go to B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?ipp=100&ci=8612&Ns=p_PRICE_2%7C0&N=4288586279+4291570227+4261834002+4261834007&srtclk=itemspp) and find another Canon in that list that you like the look of. Canon makes competent and quirk-free cameras across the board, which is more than can be said for any other brand. (If you want 1920 x 1080 video (Full HD), uncheck the "HD 720" search attribute in the left-hand column at that link.)
