Air Blocks

Saturday night:

After neatly dispatching a dangerous Brad, with a flaming arrow, I went to investigate the artifact it had been building in the northern sky near the original spawn location.

Flitting upward to look at it more closely I had my first encounter with Air Blocks.

Can anyone build with these things?

I'd LOVE an air castle.

Got a screen cap of this? I'm guessing you are seeing ice blocks, but that's only a guess.

Yeah, those are ice blocks. Apparently we'll be able to harvest them in 1.3 with Silk Touch, so that'll be nice. :)

I saw the ice blocks in-game last night... not the same thing I saw this weekend.

The things that I saw were scattered intermittently and did not have textures applied... they were totally transparent and you couldn't see them from afar, only when you were near enough for you to touch, then their outlines would "light up" the way other blocks do.

Huh. I've never seen those before. Maybe there are pockets of air in the sky like the air pockets you'll occasionally find underwater.

I think the Brad that was building the symbol PUT THEM THERE INTENTIONALLY, because they were not there last night.

I demand the truth!!!

I still think it was ice blocks: either Drew had a weird old texturepack running, or it was nighttime (iceblocks are harder to see at night.)

I'm pretty sure that it was daytime AND.... AND I was able to STAND on the invisible block with no visible means of support.

AND they were only in strategic places around The Brad's construction area (way up high).

Totally not making this up.

Maybe it's some sort of invisi-block magicks to block mobs from spawning.

I don't know!
