The theme for January is weather. What is the weather like where you are? Snowy, icy, rainy, sunny and warm? Images could range from rain drops in a puddle to clouds in the sky, show me how you see the weather, or how the weather makes you feel.

This weekend was the coldest night so far in this winter (about -15°C), but at least we got a glimpse of the sun in the morning. A rare view in the last weeks: First, it was grey and wet for some weeks, then it was grey and cold...

It has been 'freeze/thaw - freeze-thaw' here as well. More and more our winters are like that. Yesterday was definitely the 'freeze' part, together with some light snow. I went out to take a picture of some ice formations that had developed and that I had noticed earlier in the day as a potential subject for this contest. I could not capture what I wanted in those photos, but did become very cold trying. Then I noticed the snow dusted on my coat and decided to take a picture of that. I activated the self-timer and put the camera on the roof of our car in our driveway. This is the result. I look pretty grim, but it was cold. Anyway, the photo did capture something of the feeling of the moment.:) Cold and lightly snowing.

This is Bryson's pic. He did not come back to fix the link in order to display the actual photo, so I am doing it for him. I could not get it to display properly from the site on which he was hosting it, so I am re-hosting it on mine.

Nice picture. :)

Whoah. Nice ones.

Here's mine, a placeholder maybe. Strolling in an industrial park, like you do, past the Rolex HQ. The sun starting to crest the high Alps in the distance (about 50 miles) at 8:45 a.m. on a clear, cold morning.

Thanks for taking part BU! Please select one image, as only one will be evaluated. :)

One more day to go! Everyone has good images so far, this months selections will be tough to judge!

I am a bad person and I feel bad. Small baby = virtually no real computer time. It's all iPhone for now.

sorry about the choosing one shot thing. Did not know! And like I said, I'm a terrible editor.

I guess I shall choooooose.... the chairlift one. Ironically one of 3 taken with my iPhone and not my SLR.

Two weeks ago, the lady and I went to Sutro Baths in San Francisco to see 'Sutro Sam', a river otter that recently started living in the baths. Anyway, it was a nice day, 65ºF and sunny. On the way, I took this photo (facing south) of Ocean Beach along the western edge of SF. On the left, about half way up, is Golden Gate Park.

So the question remains, which image is the best? I feel as if I need to pick one at random, since I like all of them. Chinny, GSpotter and Brave Ulysses images give the strongest feeling of the weather and how it made them feel, at least in my mind, so I was able to narrow it down to those three images.

GSpotter
Your image has the brisk feeling of a cold day. I like the message this image gives, but the framing at the bottom just nags at me… so I couldn't pick your image.

Brave Ulysses
Nice selection, the image gives an extremely cold, lonely feel. I think your image also fits the theme nicely, but something was just off about it to me. Not in the image itself though. This image is the runner up.

Chinney
It sure looks cold, although your subject looks a little warmer in that coat. Your image speaks strongly, I think it simply comes down to the human element of this image. Your image is the winner.

That was unexpected, but thank you. And that coat is pretty warm, but I was still cold that day. :)

I will come up with a new PCT soon.

I do look severe in that pic, but the only enforcement I do in our neighbourhood involves getting our dog to heel, and even that does not work so well. :p

Chinney the stylemaster.

 Wow. Sharp eyes. :D I do recommend Akubras, if that is what you were referring to.

We need another of these.

Chinney, did you ever pick the next subject?

Chinney

Would be good, but I just didn't think that we had enough people around doing this anymore to make it worthwhile. If otherwise, I would be happy to choose a topic.
