Last summer Wes Wilson led a great panel at Play On Con about the experience of women in the sci-fi/con/gaming community. It's a small convention so the audience was less than 30 people, but it was a very intelligent discussion and opened my eyes to the experience of women in these supposedly "enlightened" subcultures. Today Wes posted a link to this story about #GamerGate (link to Bustle.com) (http://www.bustle.com/articles/38742-what-is-gamer-gate-its-misogyny-under-the-banner-of-journalistic-integrity) and I thought it would be an interesting read for everyone, even if our conversation goes no farther than remarking on the article.
