Hermitcraft UHC 1.9 Snapshot

Dellphi tuned me in to the recent Hermitcraft Ultra HardCore showdown and I just finished watching it today.

As with the Mindcrack UHC tournaments I like to watch at least one member of each team to understand how they got to the finals (or didn't make it there).

This UHC was especially interesting because of the 1.9 snapshot.

This means that they had to learn not to "spam click" when swinging swords - you have to build up enough power, not just click-click-click.

They can spawn villagers so that they can trade their arrows for various special arrow flavors like "weakening" and "poison" and "spectral".

Spectral arrows are cool, if you hit a person or mob with a spectral arrow you are presented with an outline of the struck person/mob, whether they are visible or behind a wall.

I don't like that they can strip mine, but so goes it.

Mindcrack's most recent was fun to watch. Loving that Vechs is on a winning streak as soon as he tried to start playing seriously. Nebris has passed the torch for villainy :)

Nebris had an unlucky drop of that lava - but he was also slowed down riding chaperone to his teammates.

Still, good play by Vechs, scaredy-cat Sethbling was put to shame.

The series was sloooow and then it got good, fast.

LOVED where MC and JSano were caught between the other teams... and then MC's friendly-fire incident? LOLOLOLOL

I love that I now have TWO places to see UHC action; Mindcrack and Hermitcraft.

If you haven't watched the Hermitcraft UHC go watch it - it's pretty fun.

Bdubs is there, as are Doc and Ethos - so some "known" players.

Some of the other Hermitcraft players are pretty great, actually. A few were lazy and hadn't done their homework.

falsesymmetry is really good, and unlike aurey, her voice doesn't annoy me - she's hardcore and doesn't natter on incessantly - but some people enjoy chitter-chatter, and I don't want to be hating on Aurey... I just think that falsesymmetry is a more well-rounded Minecraft player at this point.

Nebris ran into a block placement visualization glitch from 1.2.5. Blocks/liquids won't actually place if something is there, but liquids will give the visualization as though they did.

Yeah, KingDaddy is pretty well known from HermitCraft. False and Aurey got a group of female MC players together for a girls-only UHC a couple months ago. False beat Aurey in it and eventually won, but she and Aurey were the top two by far. Aurey learned quite a bit from Vechs in the Super Hostile co-ops they did. Not enough to be great, but enough to not be first dead all the time. She's far better playing on modded servers where she has OP weapons available.
