There are way too many "I wan't this but will it be updated soon" kind of threads.

I say if you wan't to buy an Apple product, don't wait, if you have the money, and you need it. Unless it's garanteed to have a BIG update SOON, then just buy whatever you want.

That is all fine and dandy, but did you really need to start ANOTHER thread just to say "don't start new threads?"

What's good for the goose..........

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought the "speculation" threads were what AppleNova was all about?

Yes and no.

I'm all for reasoned speculation and logical leaps about future products. However, blind unsubstantiated guesses are just clutter and a waste of everyone's time. The latter is what a lot of "predictions" in the S&R forum are and why so many threads get locked. If you want to just throw out your opinions and guesses and you don't have any real substance, go stick it in a blog somewhere.

I'll even toss in a reminder from our venerable Posting Guidelines (http://forums.applenova.com/guidelines.shtml):

The purpose of the Speculation and Rumors forum is to contain focused technical and aesthetic speculation about future hardware and software products from both Apple and third parties.

Threads consisting of unsubstantiated individual predictions about upcoming hardware are not allowed. Threads that are blatant trolls, offer no content, or are redundant will be locked.
That sums it up pretty well right there.

This is also most appropriate for the Feedback forum :)

Sorry, but didn't Macgeek just make a post in the speculation forum about a Powerbook update, while he sits here and makes a post about people who make monotonous threads ... wow.

Bingo. I was going to comment about macgeek's threads in one of them... too many, repetitive and annoying. This serves as a better forum :)

What really gets me is this guys ability to... SPAM! If you think about it, most of his threads usually appear after one that is strikingly similar to his own! Then he basically restates someone else's post in his own words... to me, he's a spammer. And I'm surprised that he's gotten under the radar for so long, I mean, practically NONE of his posts add anything to any already existing discussions, or the "new" ones he makes are complete crap...

Agree that. PM's the best medium if you feel the need to give someone a slight poke.

[I'm struck as I type this that we don't have a smily for agreeing but we do have one for disagreeing  ...]
