Does anyone own one of these? I have a DSL connection with a wired (not wireless) Linksys router right now on my PC with Windows XP. I just bought a new PB with the AirPort Extreme, and I'd like to setup a wireless network. Is it as simple as plugging the Extreme Base Station into my Linksys Router with the ethernet cable? Will the PB automatically recognize it and will the Base Station recognize my DSL connection? Has anyone done anything similar?

My home system is:
cable modem->netgear cable router->airport->powerbook

everything works fine.
You will need to setup the airport base station. This might mean that you will need to plug your powerbook into the airport basestation and do the config that way.

if you already have a hub, you might be better off just getting an AirPort Express to make your PB wireless...

Thanks, guys. I ended up just replacing my current router with a Linksys wireless router.

stupid question:

I have a cable modem now for my PC desktop....and i have Airport express (for traveling with my future PB)...

If i just bought a wireless router and a wifi card for my desktop, would i need to use Aiport express? Can i just use Airport Express without any kind of router?

Nope! The AirPort Express would only be useful for its audio feature.

Can i just use AirPort Express without any kind of router?
Yup! Plug the cable modem into the Airport Express, install the wifi card in your desktop, and you're ready to fly.

With your setup, is the router plugged into the Airport's WAN or LAN port? Which device is providing DHCP?
