So here's the deal. I'm starting a new job in about a week. In my line of work a BlackBerry is a definite status symbol and all but required for the job. I've got a Treo 600 that has served me very well for about a year, but it's showing its age. Right now I'm stuck between keeping my Treo 600, upgrading to a Treo 650, getting a BlackBerry, or saying 'fuck it' one digital leash is enough and just getting a regular old cell phone.

Treo 600 Pros:
I've already got it so it's free.
I've got it running stable. It only took me a year.
Thousands of third party apps.
Great MS Office Compatibility (Read/Write)
Treo 600 Minuses:
Bulky
Low resolution screen
Pull based email
Slow ass processor
No Bluetooth
One day battery charge under normal/heavy ussage
Treo 650 Pros:
All of the 600's
High Resolution screen
Bluetooth
Better battery life
EDGE for high speed data
Treo 650 Minues:
Bulky
Pull based email
OS Stability problems
Limited memory (might be a plus based on the new nonvolatile RAM)
Blackberry 7290 (the one I'm looking at) Pros:
Lighter than Treo
Push based email
Status Symbol
Rock solid OS
Bluetooth (more on that later)
Lots of included accessories
Week long battery
Blackberry Minuses:
Limited third party software (can be expensive)
Requires third party software for Mac syncing
Limited Bluetooth profiles (Only headset and handsfree)
Mediocre PIM applications (Third party required for Palm like functionality)
MS Office Compatible (Read only. Write requires expensive software)
Regular Old Cellphone Pros:
Small and light
Inexpensive
Cuts one of the digital leashes
Good to great battery life
Regular Old Cellphone Minuses:
Terrible email support
Terrible text entry
No status symbol whatsoever

So, what should I do?

Buy the status symbol. Yay for selling out to career advancement.

Have you checked out the Nokia 6620?
I just got one and I like it very much.

Perfect size (not too small, not too big), EDGE, messaging, web, good camera, shoots video, etc.

I've looked at other Series 60 phones and I'm not that impresses. But I'll take another look at it. The problem I'm going to run into is that T9 just sucks balls compared to a thumbboard.

Thanks for the comparison shot. I just got my Shuffle so it really helps with how big it really is.
