View Full Version : Powerbook won't recognize Superdrive
I have a Superdrive Powerbook, but the superdrive doesn't want to work. I currently have a copy of Pirates of the Carribean stuck in there(I know how to get it out, I just haven't needed to yet). When I manually launch DVD Player, it says I don't have a DVD drive. iTunes says I don't have a CD Burner, and Apple System Profiler doesn't even mention that I have an optical drive.
Any ideas?
To get the DVD out you need to reboot holding down the mouse button on the track pad. That should force the DVD out.
As for the computer not recognizing the drive, I have no clue.
If you restart the computer and hold down f12 it should eject the cd (or alternatively hold the mouse button down).
Then figure out if it is that particular DVD or your drive
EDIT: me type too slow :\
Yeah, I already know how to get the disc out, I just can't get any discs to work. I've tried DVD's and CD's.
And now, it hangs for about five minutes at boot time, at the grey Apple logo. I've gone through all the steps on Apple's website, so I might just take it down to the Apple Store tomorrow. Its still under warranty.
Sounds like it is toast. :\
