need cell phone to connect; don't need PDA - - will any new phone do?

Hi there,
I'm going to be out of the office for two weeks, but within cell-phone contact.
I'd like to be able to connect to the internet so I can use my VPN account to get my e-mail.
I have a new powerbook with Bluetooth, but I don't mind using a USB cable.
Will any of the newish cell phones work for me? Do some work better than others with a Mac, or are they all the same if I'm just using them as a conduit?

Sony Ericsson's probably work the best, plus you can use stuff like Sailing Clicker.

If you're looking for advice besides the Mac syncing (like which specific phone, which network, etc) aspect Howard Forums is probably your best bet.

Country dependant. Have you thought of one of those new PC-Cards phone providers are offering? In Australia Vodafone among others are offering one, check it out, im sure everyelse has them too.
