wait to purchase iBook until the 7th?

Well there's apparently some product being released by Apple on the 7th. I'm planning on buying my iBook this coming Saturday though. Should I wait to see what happens, or should I buy my iBook as planned?

hehe, tough question.... i'd wait, but i've been waiting for the last month now. the ones right now are a solid machine, so if you need one, buy one. if you want one, i'd wait.

I would wait until July 7 just to see if they do update, if not, buy it. Can you wait another five days past Saturday and find out?

Nope, not particular reason for waiting. I just picked Saturday as my day to buy the iBook. I can wait, and I think I probably will too! Thanks :)

Is it likely though that they would update the ibook with the student discount deal going on?

I really don't know anymore. The student discount deal works with the following computers: all PowerBook models, all iMac models, all Power Mac models, and all iBook models excluding the 12-inch iBook CD.

That leaves the eMac and the mini for an upgrade. And what of the 12 inch iBook?

This is why I'm looking at a student discount Powerbook now...get me a free iPod ;)

It's unclear what is being released on 7th (if anything). Given it's next Thursday I suggest you wait if you're feeling risk averse - it is after all only 7 days.

The "big product" comming out is the iPhone and nothing else.

Something is definitely being announced on the 7th by Apple since they have called a press conference for that day. It will be worth the wait.
