Here's my problem:

Right now I have a Toshiba P20 17" notebook. You guys have seen it before because Steve Jobs made fun of it (http://www.fatlinesites.com/bob/toshiba.mov)

I've been using it non-stop, basically all day long for the last 2 and a half years. It's still fast, but it's getting worn down. The keys on the keyboard are breaking off a lot requiring me to put them back in place. The wrist-rest are is also worn showing black marks on the metal. Plus this thing is not portable at all, weighing in at over 12 lbs with the plug.

I've been craving a Powerbook for a while, and want to purchase a 17" Powerbook. I've been waiting for the next revision and do have a lot of computers I can use to help the process.

However, I also require at least one 30" monitor on my G5 (it has a 6800u ddl, so no worries there). If I were to get 2, it would help my production process greatly. But a notebook and one 30" would help it as well due to the portability. Since both are needed equally, I'm stuck.

So if you had $8k cdn to spend, would you buy 2 30s or 1 30 and a 17" Powerbook?

You didn't mention why you "require" at least one 30" monitor. If you take two 23" monitors instead of one 30", you get about 600,000 pixels more screen real estate for about the same price.

Using a 23 and 22 right now and it isn't nearly sufficient.

buy a 30" and a PowerBook and a PCI video card to move the current 22" to, and use 3 displays on your G5.

maximize your resources!

if I get one 30, I might keep the 23 on the G5, put the 22 on the Dual G4, 15 on the other G4, and then the 21 ASD to the other G4.

Or just the 30 on the G5, 23 to the G4, 22 on the other G4, and then the 15 on the other G4, and then CRT on a PC.

Just did the match and for the same price it's 2 30s or 1 30, 1 17 PB with 1 gig of Ram and a AppleCare warranty on both.
