Hey guys, I know it is still mostly speculation about the 12 inch powerbook going away, but let's say it does happen. What would happen if I bought one and bought the applecare plan? I have seen applecare replace an entire computer before, what would they do in the event of my computer breaking? Do you think they would replace it with a 12 inch iBook? or a 15 inch powerbook? I am not trying to cheat the system I just want to know if it is a sound investment or not.

thanks!

A 12" PowerBook is a good investment any way you look at it.

Yeah, they will fix or replace any computer covered by AppleCare for 3 years if something goes wrong with it. As long as you don't do something stupid, like try to drop in a G5, you'll be fine. :)

Just to be careful read any aggreemens or conditions or other stuff... In other words, legal things that state usoually irrelevant facts. :)

You shouldn't have any problems. Apple completely refurbished my friend's TiBook after the FW port started smoking on him one day a couple of months ago. Only the HD was salvageable. And this was without AppleCare, so with it I'd imagine would be no different.

just to state the obvious apple care doesn't cover accidental damage

I'm not implying that. I'm just saying they can replace old hardware if they need to.

I am sure they would replace my hardware if need be, but what I am really curious about is WHAT they will replace it with if the 12'' is discontinued.
