I've been looking at the Geekbench scores comparing the new QC MacBook Air with the "new" QC MacBook Pro 1.4GHz. It seems that the scores lean heavily in favor of the Pro. So the Pro
is faster, but in that $1300 range it also has
half the storage capacity.
The decision is based on the following factors: $1299 gets you either a faster processor, a slightly brighter screen, and the Touch Bar, or it gets you a lighter computer with better battery life and double the storage. In my estimation, the Air wins, as the performance value is still in the 2.0GHz $1799 MB Pro which (over the base Pro) offers a much faster chip, double the RAM on a faster buss, 2x the storage at 3x the speed, and twice as many ports.
Either you need the performance (get the $1799 Pro) or you don't (get the QC $1299 Air).
