I have a Fat 32 usb hard drive that usually plays fine with my powerbook g4 os 10.4.4. For one reason or another, there have been two incidences where a restart has been necessary prior to unmounting the drives(however, this problem occurs when the computer goes to sleep as well with the external drive attached). Upon restart/sleep the computer is unable to mount the drive again. Disk utility spends forever searching for it. It won't work when attached to another mac after this as well. The only solution has been connecting it to a PC where it loads fine. After this it will work fine again until its not unmounted again.
Any suggestions as to how to avoid this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.
