Notch's twitter seems to suggest that there are a lot of bugs that will be fixed tomorrow.
His twitter also seems to suggest that he didn't start implementing the switch to beta until later this morning. I know if I was in charge, I would of had a somewhat stable beta release all ready to go before I flipped the switch, but I'm not the best person to be talking about this kind of stuff.

We plan on using either wool, or solid iron blocks for the Apple.
