If Amazon wants to piss away a billion dollars on that, be my guest. But that teaser does not have me excited at all about this series. Looks like something a Youtuber would've cobbled together as a pretend sizzle reel.

I thought Amazon's agreement with the Tolkein estate and New Line Cinema (who, IIRC, still own some of the rights) said that they couldn't adapt the core LOTR or Hobbit books and were limited to Silmarillion and its ilk, so maybe this is just a weird teaser they through together without thinking it through.
