My Dad’s Corolla was made in Japan, had a bad weld in the front passenger side wheel well that allowed water into the cabin. Just to put a damper on the superiority of made in Japan theory.
I too was a little surprised when I heard Toyota had started to move production to Mexico. Consumer reports lowered their rating of quality for the Tacoma the year the transition happen. They were right to do so. Now only the Tundra is made in the US, in terms of trucks.
