Yes, turns out Spatial audio was turned on by default on my iPhone, and after doing some looking it does work fine with many iTunes song purchases. No support on my older iPad, or 2018 Mac Mini, so that's likely why I noticed such a difference when listening to music on my iPhone over my iPad.
No loss with my Mac, I have my high end audio stuff hooked up to that anyway.
