OK. I haven't shoveled a thing and went out just to measure. There's 16" of snow settled on the yard, and some spots have snowdrifts quite a bit higher than that. Just brought the garden hose in to defrost it in the laundry tub, then I'll run some hot water out for the rink. I'm wondering if I should compact the snow first, I think that might be better. I don't have a roller, but could improvise something with the kids sleds...
